About Katie
Katie Chirichillo is a fine art photographer based in Beacon, New York in the beautiful Hudson Valley. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from SUNY New Paltz in 2012.
Analog is how Katie describes her body of fine art photography which is all 35mm and 120mm color film. Her work investigates the people and spaces around her, and how those people inhabit those spaces, may it be permanent or for a brief moment. The people examined in her photographs are those closest to her, though the candid nature can leave the viewer curious of the subject's relationship to the photographer. A keen awareness of the quick and often unnoticeable "in-between" instances have earned Katie great praise in the field.
After people-watching for so long and being an unofficial paparazzi photographer among parties and social gatherings, taking work as a wedding and event photographer was a natural progression for Katie, though she had been doing it all along.
When not photographing, Katie is at a punk show somewhere in the tri-state area, befriending every cat she meets, or demolishing a plate of nachos. Possibly all three at once.
